Job duties (dependant upon degree/licensure):

Adhere to established screening procedures.

 

Obtain patient history and vital signs.

 

Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.

 

Prepare patients for examinations, procedures and treatments.

 

Assist with examinations, procedures and treatments.

 

Prepare and administer medications and immunizations.

 

Maintain medication and immunization records.

 

Recognize and respond to emergencies.

 

Coordinate patients care information with other health care providers.

 

Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications.

 

Operate x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.

 

Perform routine laboratory tests including QC and proficiency testing.

 

Participate in the Quality Management process of identifying problems and participate in the development of criteria to study and improve the process.

 

 

Experience/Education: 

 

One year certificate from college or technical school; three to six months related experience and/or training

 

CMA: Licensed by the South Dakota State Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

 

LPN: Licensed by the South Dakota State Board of Nursing.  Current CPR certification required
